Winter is coming, which means tradition continues at Merrimack County Savings Bank (The Merrimack) with their Annual Mitten Tree Drive. Now through the end of December, The Merrimack will be collecting cold weather essentials to be distributed among local nonprofits in need of donations.
“The Mitten Tree is a simple way to get into the holiday spirit by giving back to our neighbors who are struggling during New Hampshire’s long winter months,” said Linda Lorden, President of The Merrimack. “Last year with the support of the community, we were able to donate 388 winter weather necessities and $1,000 to our local pantries!”
New handmade or store-bought mittens, gloves, hats and scarves can be dropped off at any of The Merrimack’s seven locations. For each item collected, The Merrimack will donate $2, which will be evenly divided and awarded to the following food pantries at the end of the drive:
- Friendly Kitchen (Concord)
- Twin Rivers Food Pantry (Franklin)
- Bow Food Pantry
- Hopkinton Food Pantry
- Hooksett Food Pantry
- Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter
